June 30 - Birthday flowers...in the rain

Thunderstorms, humidity, and rain...not a typical summer day in California but we'll enjoy the uniqueness of the day. And the rain is watering my birthday Calla lilys quite nicely.
Beth planted them and her mini roses. They are both beautiful and will hopefully do well in our yard.

June 29 - Happy Birthday Beth!!!

 Happy, happy birthday to Beth!
We started the day with waffles and berries and presents.
We then headed to the beach with friends.  Daddy showed up at lunch with ice cream because all Beth wanted for her birthday treat was ice cream :)
We finished the day with dinner at Ruby's...and more ice cream!

June 25 - OC Fair is coming...

Summer is...the OC Fair.
Living so close to the OC County Fairgrounds, we enjoy the unique privilege of watching it become the fair piece by piece every summer.

June 24 - Happy Birthday to Me!

My hubbie did an amazing job of celebrating me throughout the day.  Oatmeal cake complete with candles for breakfast. And then he surprised me at lunch with an angel food cake and strawberries.
We finished the night at my favorite restaurant with family and friends.
They all really made turning another year older fun!

June 22 - Solving Mysteries with Sherlock Holmes

I found out after the fact that I wasn't supposed to take these pictures, oops!
But here we are solving a mystery at the Sherlock Holmes exhibit at the Discovery Science Center.  It was challenging and interesting, good combination for a summer afternoon.

June 21 - Birthday Date Night

For my birthday, Andrew planned a date night complete with babysitter.  It was way overdue (haven't been out since getting foster baby almost 4 months ago).  Love this man!

June 20 - Star Gazing

This summer has a fun astrological event to be remembered.  Since April we've been watching Jupiter and Venus in the night sky as they get closer and closer.  In a week they'll be a lunar diameter apart.
We've loved playing outside in the evening.  Our new driveway allows for roller blading, sidewalk chalk, and just lounging to look at the stars on these late summer nights!

June 19 - Sea World with Stephen

Stephen is home from El Salvador for a week and we enjoyed the privilege of taking him to Sea World.  To our surprise Jill has grown enough to be able to ride Manta (48 inches!) So today's memory is Jill and Stephen and Manta.
And even though she's been tall enough, we haven't had a second adult present (to stay with foster baby) so she also went on Shipwreck Rapids with me for the first time...
and Atlantis with Stephen multiple times!  It was a big day for new rides :)

100 days of Summer

I received a challenge by a photographer friend to take a picture a day this summer.  I thought this would be a great idea.  I miss capturing the day to day fun of our lives so here I am posting day by day pics again.  And while I'm hoping to take some moments to work on my photography skills my focus is going to be on capturing the memories even if it's bad lighting with my old cell phone camera.  So here's to Summer 2015 and a few pictures to catch us up with what's been happening:
We celebrated the last day of school June 9, at Yogurtland!
The next day was the 46th Street Summer Kick-off...that's a lot of people in one hot tub!
Next, we eagerly visited our Discovery Science Center as it opened it's new expansion, a project we've been watching since they first dug up the parking lot last year.
We really enjoyed many of the new exhibits and can't wait to go back again and again.
There was a quick trip to the beach on a cool day because well, it's summer.
A milkshake break from a busy day of orthodontists, opthamologists, and social workers...
And finally a swim meet...one of many this summer.

And Adam at his last soccer game.  He is so ready to play AYSO in the fall!
